Don't Wash Away Our Home (single)
Late summer in the dog days, one dark and eerie morn
The wind came howling through the trees, stirring up a storm
The clouds were black as night, and they covered up the sun
Then the dark sky began to cry and her tears fell one by one
The river is rising, the mud is sliding
Trees are falling, on the Lord we are calling
Pray, pray, pray that the water don’t wash away our home
I ran back inside to my family fast asleep
As I shook them, the thunder rolled, they all sprang to their feet
We left our little home and everything behind
As the lightning cracked through the sky, higher ground we hoped to find
The river is rising, the mud is sliding
Trees are falling, on the Lord we are calling
Pray, pray, pray that the water don’t wash away our home
Tried to cross the bridge, it’s nowhere to be found
The water’s getting higher, claiming all it’s ground
Some things I recognize, but there’s nothing left to save
Will the very tears I’m crying put me in a water grave?
The river is rising, the mud is sliding
Trees are falling, on the Lord we are calling
Pray, pray, pray that the water don’t wash away our home
Pray, pray, pray that the water don’t wash away our home
