Silently
Silently by Anouschka Pearlman
Another night in a sleepless town.
He lays his soul and his whiskey down.
A thought of her might pass him by,
and spin his heart around.

Silently- he watched her walk away.
Silently- he let those feelings fade.
Silently- he kept those memories at bay.
But he did he come out unscathed?

The bed is made of chrome
and those motel walls are stained.
There's a bible by the bedside,
but no god to ease his pain.
Darkness please be kind to him, because you see,
he's the man I love even if he don't love me.

Silently, I watched him walk away.
Silently, I let those feelings fade.
Silently, I kept those memories at bay.
But did I come out unscathed?

In a better time,
or a world more fair.
I'm sure he could have loved me
if he'd never cared-
for the smell of her perfume
or the way she fills a room
with more promises than me.

Silently, we watch the ones we love walk away.
Silently, we let those feelings fade.
Silently, we keep the memories at bay.
But do we come out unscathed?
