On Union Street (A Christmas Toast)
ON UNION STREET (A CHRISTMAS TOAST)

Snow is softly swirling;
Smoke from a red-bricked
Chimney’s curling
As dear friends and strangers meet
On Union Street.
’Tis the season to be merry,
But the passers-by don’t tarry
As Jack Frost chills hands and feet
On Union Street.

But here, inside the door
Of a place we know so well,
Hearts and souls grow warm
Within its spell.
And before this time must pass
We raise a joyful voice and glass
To the season that’s so sweet
At this house on Union Street.

And here, inside the door
Of a place we know so well,
Hearts and souls grow warm
Within its spell.
And before this time must end,
We raise a toast to this old friend
And to all we’re glad to greet
At this house on Union Street:

To the mother with unfailing will;
Father who will eat his fill;
To children with a
Christmas morning grin.
Here’s to family from far and near;
Cousins we see once a year
And to all who wander in.
How great it’s been!

For here, inside the door
Of a place we know so well,
Hearts and souls grow warm
Within its spell.
And before this time is through,
May your ev’ry wish come true.
Happy Christmas to you.

Snow is softly swirling;
Smoke from a red-bricked
Chimney’s curling.
May our dear friends always meet
At this house on Union Street.
