Lonesome Leaving Train (single)
Lonesome Leaving Train

-by Amanda Cook and THomm Jutz

She was a beautiful young bride

Dying to be there by his side

Left Virginia far behind

Just to be with him

She was Kansas City Bound

When she heard that whistle sound

She didn’t turn and look around

She was solid gone

Lonesome Leaving Train

Rolling through the rain

Just a suitcase to her name

On a lonesome leaving train

It took two days to get her there

But the platform lay there bare

She couldn’t find him anywhere

She was all alone

She couldn’t stand to bear the pain

Could only find herself to blame

No way of living with the pain

And turn and go back home

Lonesome Leaving Train

Rolling through the rain

Just a suitcase to her name

On a lonesome leaving train

Nowhere to go nowhere to run

She pawned the ring to buy the gun

Did what she thought to be done

She died there all alone

They say sometimes a form is seen

Of a woman lost in dream

Who rides from Kansas to Virginia

Round about midnight

Lonesome Leaving Train

Rolling through the rain

Just a suitcase to her name

On a lonesome leaving train
