Biography
Alonzo Coyethea hails from a family of performing musicians. He's a grad of P.S.U's music program, learning drums, piano and jazz theory--while cutting his teeth at local jazz and blues jams late nights. After years playing with original rockers Reedy and the Bluntz and J.S.B, he went solo to try his own songs.
What's emereged is a deep-minded songwriting talent. Using jazz chord structure over his funky syncopated drumwork, body-shaking hooks and power guitar work, Alonzo's got a sound that grabs. Add the voice-- a power soulful tenor evoking all the soul singer greats while still sounding very much his own and I was a fan like anyone else at the Hawthorne that night . Singing about storms, affairs, seedy criminals or foreign places, the lyrics are as picturesque as you can get in the fragile art of songwriting.
Alonzo would love any support or feedbcak you can give him- he asks you to check his my space page and please spread the word if you like what you hear. "Then I can keep making good music" he smiles--Emily Shearry
