One Of Those Things
One Of Those Things

There's smoke down in the valley

They're burnin' ditches for the spring

The days are gettin' longer

There's a redtail on the wing

Won't be long til the morning sun

Will chase this chill away

Only one thing missing

You're not here today

I'm learning to live alone

There's room enough in this empty house

For my pride and a telephone

But my pride has rusted and the phone never rings

For a decent man with a broken heart

It's just one of those things

I made mistakes and more mistakes

Honey so did you

Seems like talkin' it out was something

We just couldn't do

Now we're a thousand miles apart

And there's nothing left to say

And nobody here to listen

Or to help me find my way

My thoughts scatter like these alley cats

That keep me company

All this time and all these miles

And it's still too dark to see

Like losing you....it's just one of those things
