10. For The Giving / Sans rien donner
Perhaps more than any other track, the title track illustrates my effort to explore my passion for fiddle, voice and looping, both in the album recording and in the solo video performance where I play all the integral parts by myself. I once heard someone say about their ex partner “in life, there are givers and there are takers, and he was a taker.” I was reminded of this phrase when my friend was cheated on by her longtime partner and it led me to write this song.
