When I first heard this song, I fell in love with the melody. I wanted something soft and pretty that would showcase my voice in a different way. This song gained a whole different meaning when a young gentleman approached me after a show one day. He came to me at the merchandise table to tell me his story of what this song did for him. He explained that he wasn't familiar with my music until just before he was deployed to Afghanistan. He was downloading music on his iPod before leaving the country when he somehow ran across my music. He liked the first song enough to download the whole CD. On the flight over to his deployment, he listened and discovered this song, and it inspired him to do whatever he had to do during the next 18 months, to get back home again. He said he listened to it every night before he went to sleep so he could imagine that he was "Already Home." As if I wasn't already touched to the point of crying, he then handed me his mission badge, and thanked me for getting him home again. That was by far, the biggest compliment I could ever get for singing a song. And to think that he felt the need to thank me...God bless the USA and those who serve our country. Thank YOU young man!
