Biography

Alba Gu Bràth are a folk / black metal band from the darkest forests of Scotland. They have played with bands such as: Alestorm , Enslaved, Negura Bunget, Tyr, Wodensthrone to name a few.

'Dupplin Moor' which has been the bands only release has received praise from around the metal community worldwide.

An online digipack is set to be released in December followed by an EP in 2010.

Short timeline

2007

April: Friends Joe Macgreor / Scott McDonagh and Alan Robinson form Alba Gu Bràth , Taking the name from Scottish Gaelic meaning “Scotland Forever”. Jaime Cross and David Skalley are then asked to join the band to complete the line up.

October: Debut track Dupplin Moor is recorded at Q10 Studios, Glasgow.

2008

January: Alan leaves the band due to musical differences and the band are forced to draw in close friend Josh Cheyne until a suitable replacement is found.

April: Alba Gu Bràth play there debut gig as a band at The Soundhaus, Glasgow.

May: Alba Gu Bràth are invited to appear on the covermount CD of May/June issue of Zero Tolerance Magazine.

June: Iron Age Records ask the band if they can release Dupplin Moor on one of there compilation albums and the band accepts. Iron Age Records Volume I is then completed and released worldwide appearing in all good record stores around the world.

August: Sees Alba Gu Bràth play a concert with Alestorm to a sold out crowd in Ivory Blacks,Glasgow.

October: Alba Gu Bràth make there debut appearance in England as they play Gathering Of The Clans Folk/ Metal festival.

November: They are invited to play a concert with Enslaved in Glasgow and play to a near sold out crowd. Late on in November the band also play a show in Glasgow with Negura Bunget.

December: The recording process is started for the bands long awaited demo.

2009

January – May: The band work on the debut EP.

May: Alba Gu Bràth are invited to play with Alestorm and Tyr at the Cathouse, Glasgow to a sold out crowd.

June – August: The EP recording is still in process, the band also takes to the studio to write some more tracks.

October: Alba Gu Bràth go on a mini tour of Scotland, playing three very successful shows.

December: : The band are set to play a show with Swallow The Sun / Insonium & Omnium Gatherum.
