"Simply put, these are among the finest post-Beatles pop tunes I've ever heard," raved Sacramento music critic Jackson Griffith, one voice of many who cannot seem to get Adrian Bourgeois' wistful pop/art tunes out of their heads. Bourgeois has been making waves on the Sacramento scene since early 2003 performing at prominent local venues including Harlow’s, the Crest Theater, the Underground Cafe, and Cesar Chavez Park. He has received four Jammies and the 2007 critics choice Sammie award for best songwriter. In May, Bourgeois picked up the grand prize for music in the national OurStage contest. Bourgeois’ self-titled debut album, released on the east-coast label C-Side Records, has been called “absolutely brilliant” by Griffith and many across the country are echoing his sentiment. John Meyer of Boston, MA’s WERS, one of the top indie music stations in the country, writes, “There's as much C.S. Lewis as there is Simon and Garfunkel in this Californian's airy, dreamy folk-laced sound....He's a wide-eyed six-year-old boy trapped inside an twenty-something pop-genius's body.” Produced by Bourgeois with help from David Houston (Jackie Greene, Public Nuisance), Ralph Stover, and Brent Bourgeois (Bourgeois Tagg), the album features musical and vocal appearances by Mike Roe (77’s, Lost Dogs), Agent Ribbons chanteuse Natalie Gordon, and Sammie award winning folk artist Justin Farren. “One day, in the not-too-distant future," predicts Griffith, "Adrian Bourgeois will be an influential force in pop music….”
