Lonesome Highways
Lonesome Highways

Sunrise here in Birmingham, I shift into low gear, ease to the road
One thousand miles to go
I’ve come to call these lonesome highways home
Never owned a suit or tie, ‘cause hauling freight on wheels is what I know
And miles and miles of road
I’ve come to call these lonesome highways home
When Tuscaloosa comes into view, I’ll want to turn this rig around, and head straight back to you
Jackson’s got some danger zones, while Shreveport’s got the rain and hot winds blow
round most of El Paso
I’ve come to call these lonesome highways home
When fatigue takes over me, I’ll find a crowded a stop, pull off the road
Bunk out my time then go
I’ve come to call these lonesome highways home
