Scott Cook - Get' Em, Letitia James
[Contains "****" and "****." Clean version also available on APD)]
“New York Attorney General Letitia James is a public servant in the truest sense of the word. I first heard Ms. James' name on Democracy Now, and they went on mentioning her with such regularity that I was eventually motivated to look her up. The more I dug into her story and read her words, the more I was floored by her intelligence, tenacity, and utter badassery.
“It's a shame, really, that we hear so much about the antics of the most ruthless people on the planet, while inspiring stories of actual heroism so often go unnoticed. So at least for my small part in all this, I wanna sing about the heroes. Tish James is one of mine.
“I recorded the song at home for my Patreon supporters to whom I've been trying to deliver a new song every month for the past year or so. This was the first one for which I enlisted outside musical help. I played the guitars and bass, but my bandmate Bramwell Park laid down drums and keys, another frequent local collaborator Dana Wylie provided the gospel choir, and my longtime engineer Brad Smith mixed and mastered it. I hope A.G. James likes it, and I hope her example will inspire others to work for justice in whatever field they find themselves.”
