Sing A Bluegrass Song is one of two of the band’s albums released by Rebel Records in 1973. The album was reissued digitally in 2011 and is available on ITunes and Amazon Music.
A.L. Wood, a prolific songwriter and Banjo player as well as singer toured with The Smokey Ridge Boys for over thirty years from the early ‘70s through the 90’s. His songs are bluegrass classics.
A.L. Wood is from Surrey County, North Carolina. He formed The Smokey Ridge Boys in 1965 with his brother Odell Wood.
Lester Deaton is from Kannapolis, North Carolina. He said of A.L. Wood’s showmanship, “He held the audience in the palm of his hand.”
Dewey Farmer, also from Kannapolis, NC, was a member of Carl Story’s Ramblin’ Mountaineers prior to joining The Smokey Ridge Boys.
