Generations (Burden Half So Well)
(c) 2015 Timothy Crosby
[cho]
He gave me all he had, taught all that he could tell
Now it’s me to shoulder up the burden half so well
He showed me how to live a life and do the best I can
Now it’s him I want to be when I grow to be a man
It’s hard to keep from thinking things will always stay the same
But I’m here to tell he taught me well to carry on the name
When no longer him and me, but me all on my own
That’s the time I came to find how much I should have grown
A year gone by, and a day, my son here by my side
We’ll pour a glass and raise a toast to the fear and to the pride
I’ll give you all I have, teach all that I can tell
Then it’s you to shoulder up the burden half so well
