Jimmy died yesterday
Got the phone call late last night
He was out on patrol and caught a bullet head on
And now, just like that he's gone...

When Jimmy died the world changed overnight
Things got way more serious in life
We'll never make light or fun of certain things again...

And the innocence was shattered
Things were carefree no more

And some things fall to the floor
Never to regroup or be restored

Jimmy died over 30 years ago
So much promise that went unfulfilled
So much heartbreak never went away
Some long ago forgot, but not me
No, it's like Jimmy died yesterday...
