MASON DOUGLAS - BIO
"Putting everything you love back into country music".
That is what Mason Douglas set out to do and that is exactly what he has fiercely done with his distinctive declaration of country music, soul, blues, and rock. There's a saying around Nashville ... a mantra among songwriters: "It All Begins With A Song." For Mason Douglas, it not only begins with a song ... it grabs the listener, crosses every one of their emotional frontiers, and continues to live even after breaking through every single boundary.

Mason's fans have become addicted to his distinguished diversity, some saying he sounds like Chris Isaak with his signature, sexy falsettos; some saying Garth Brooks with his honesty and range; and others even saying he's "country music's Rob Thomas". Most likely, you'll hear this influence of these artists, along with the likes of Ricky Van Shelton, Marvin Gaye, Patty Griffin, Radney Foster, Pearl Jam, and even Guns 'N Roses, to name a minute selection of Mason's icons.

Mason has spent his lifetime chasing country music before making his way to Nashville and grabbing it by the horns. Growing up an Air Force Brat in the deserts of Tucson, Arizona, he had his fair share of ranch life, fake ID's, broken hearts, and country music on the airwaves. His mother taught him how to ride a horse, his father taught him dedication and persistence, his sister taught him how to sing, and few ex-girlfriends taught him how to write a song. He sifted through his parent's record and tape collections, full of rodeo albums from Chris LeDoux and classics from George Strait, all of which he drew from when he started singing and playing guitar and finding new audiences throughout the southwest.

A massive blow for Mason was the terminal illness of his father, an Air Force Colonel and Vietnam Vet, throughout his middle-school years. When Mason was 11, his dad was stricken with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and Mason, along side his Mother, became a primary care-giver through the 6-year ordeal. This experience was both horrific and traumatic - yet it reinforced countless characteristics that have carried over into Mason's music: passion for love and life ("Anything Can Happen")…intensity and sincerity ("People Fall In Love")…and even the necessary doses of mischief and humor ("Big Bad Wolf"). A lot of Mason's music drives the listener to understand that we are all presented with chance and challenge daily…and that we just have to laugh a little, enjoy the time we have, and face any adversity at full force.

Today, Mason Douglas is a strong supporter of the ALS Association as well as the United States Armed Forces. While he has adamantly stated that his efforts are humbly minimal as compared to those of our soldiers, he has made countless USO appearances and supported numerous soldier benefits throughout the U.S. and has incorporated his military anthem, "Home Free", into every set. Mason is still awaiting his opportunity to perform for the troops overseas and considers it one of music's great honors to be invited to do so.
Other honors throughout Mason's career have been performing showcases at the historic Ryman Auditorium; writing with some of Nashville's legendary icon's, many of them his personal heroes; sharing stages with current superstars Trace Adkins, Terri Clark, and Jewel; and soaking in every second of every minute of living out his dream in Nashville, something that he knows very few people in the world get to experience.

It's been a long road from the deserts of southern Arizona to the bright lights of Nashville...…but what a fun and amazing journey for Mason Douglas!
