Biography
It's like the taste of a mint julep- strong, sweet, dark, and distinctively southern. Jill Kinsey's voice is the South, and her songs take you there, to the smell of bar-b-q, tobacco, and lazy summer evenings on the porch.
The Texas born and raised beauty queen turned Nashville's rockin' country sweetheart has spent the last few years fronting several bands, including Cherrystone, Sweetleaf, the Kindred, Nashville Gypsy, and the Jill Kinsey band. She is well known for her engaging performance, making sure everyone feels her music.
Kinsey has also had success as a songwriter for other artists, both main stream and indie. Her song "Do Your Thing" was cut by Cowboy Troy for his Warner Brothers album "Loco Motive" which enjoyed top charting success at number 2 on the Billboard's Country chart. Kinsey was also asked to be a guest vocalist on the track, which was also featured on the Dr. Doolittle 3 soundtrack. Her song "That's What Dancers Do" cut by both Wayne Mills and Jarrod Birmingham has topped charts overseas and in Texas.
Her solo project comes at a time when Kinsey has about done it all in Nashville. She's played over 500 shows with various bands the past few years, written over 150 songs and has even had a TV show. She's showing a more vulnerable side of her music, while still being honest and a little rough around the edges.
Listeners can't help but connect with Kinsey, as she draws them in, wraps them up with her music and love. They will find themselves wanting to return over and over again, to slow down, turn it up, and just take it all in with a smile-
