Biography
Much of Jared Rogerson’s songwriting is inspired by the 17 years he devoted to riding bareback bronc’s in rodeos. That, and traversing thousands of miles atop saddle horses in the rugged mountains near his home in Pinedale, Wyoming. From a young age, his innate passion for music and lyric became deeply rooted as he drifted asleep each night to such favorites as Steve Earle, Chris LeDoux, Sawyer Brown, and Bon Jovi. A conviction in the power of positive attitude was cultivated overtime through his adventurous outdoor lifestyle, earning a Master’s degree, and enduring many of life’s most personal failures and successes, infusing in him a desire to inspire hearts and minds through music.
Though his songwriting development began early, it wasn’t until his sophomore year in college that he purchased his first guitar. He casually taught himself new chords over the next several years until one final rodeo wreck in 2007 spurred him into taking his music seriously. Now, Jared sports an L-shaped scar on the inner joint of his riding arm where the biceps tendon was re-attached. Not the worst of his injuries, but it occurred at a pivotal moment in life giving him the opportunity to escape and chase a different dream. Jared immediately began recording original material with that same passion and energy he devoted to rodeo for so many years.
In early 2008 he self- released his first single, Boomtown, a home recording that centered on the socioeconomic issues surrounding small towns across the American West. Jared spent 2009 independently producing and recording his first full-length record, Bad Hay, another home recording that was released in 2010. Both projects offered a steep learning curve that served to prepare him for the opportunities ahead.
He soon teamed up with award-winning singer/songwriter, Brenn Hill, who acted as a co-producer on Jared’s next two albums. Peace, Love & Horses, Jared Rogerson’s first professional studio album, was recorded in Nashville and released in 2011 under his own label, Roughstock Records. The release was nominated for Best Country Album by the Independent Music Awards and marked the official launch of his career in music as a performing artist. In 2013 he released Dirt, an album he recorded in Utah that strays from the polished Nashville sound of his previous project, being more reminiscent of his early influences.
