The second Rounder album by Hazel Dickens & Alice Gerrard reflects the full fruition of their partnership. Combining old-time folk and country sounds with a worldly, feminist perspective, their original songs such as Dickens’ “Ramblin' Woman” and Gerrard’s “Mary Johnson” were groundbreaking. Kim Ruell of No Depression wrote, “…while Dylan's bold move [going electric at Newport] shook the folk world in a way that has been discussed ad nauseum ever since, the influence Hazel and Alice have had on fellow musicians has been just as profound and incalculable.”
