Bio:
They say it's never too late to follow your dreams. And that's exactly what Christine Malcolm has done. At age 47, Christine debuted her first album, Crickets Coyotes & the Big Yellow Moon. The singer/songwriter is the mother of three sons and is a midwife/NP. She has been a gypsy deadhead, a homeschooling-homesteading-shepherdess, as well as an inner-city midwife to urban teens. Her varied rich life experiences imbue passion, earthiness and a straightforward style. Her voice, subtle and soulful, has been compared to Shawn Colvin and Natalie Merchant, and her influences range from The Band to Ani DiFranco. The debut album can be compared to the work of Lori McKenna or Lucy Kaplanski. Produced by Berklee grad Colin McCaffrey, the album includes a cadre of talented Vermont musicians including Russ Lawton (Trey Anastasio Band/Soule Monde), Jeremy Harple (The Aerolites), Rudy Dauth (The Woedoggies), and blues-man Dave Keller to name a few. A lifelong writer, Malcolm’s past work was published in Hip Mama: An Anthology (Seal Press, 2004). She uses songs as a medium to paint pictures of the lives she encounters in small town USA. Her stories tell of big joyful hearts, broken spirits, hope, forgiveness, and the sense of peace that comes from making it back home. Always feminine in perspective and usually taking a dirt road, Christine’s music comes straight from her emotional core directly to the listeners.
