Biography

Annette Conlon is an American Roots artist that leans to alt-Country. Performing with a full band, duo, or solo she captivates audiences everywhere. While the lyrics are raw and emotion-provoking, Annette’s beloved voice is the unforgettable throughline. Meshing her musical influences (Dolly Parton, The Carpenters, Johnny Cash, and Julie Andrews) with personal inspirations ranging from veganism and animal welfare to life and death physical challenges, she has become an integral voice in the indie music scene in L.A. and beyond.

Named #3 by Paul Riley in Country Music People’s “Critic’s Choice Top Ten Best Albums of 2015” (Jan 2016), her debut solo album, LIFE, DEATH, AND THE SPACES BETWEEN explore the dark and light parts of Annette’s two-year journey with a deadly illness, multiple surgeries, and a major brain injury, wrapped in the warm blanket of Americana music.

“While sick, I was often told I would never be ‘as good as new’ or as I was, before I became ill,” Annette says. “I grew frustrated with being sick, and letting the illness define me, and decided instead of being ‘as good as new’ I would become ‘better than before.’ I wrote “Live Like An Angel” about refusing to let crushing despair defeat you, but instead rising above pain and fear to be your very best you and “let the world hear you sing.”

“When you hear Annette Conlon’s vocals, it’s hard not to think about Judy Collins and Emmylou Harris.”
Gary Schwind, AXS.com (Sept 2014)

“...a sincere compilation of emotionally-born compositions.”
Will Phoenix, AXS.com (April 2015)

“She emerges at once as a major talent...Annette Conlon has created a moving, intimate, magical melodic country trip into her troubled mind.” Paul Riley, Country Music People (July 2015)

“This is a CD with very strong lyrics that are supported with a nice musical back-up...This is a CD for you that want to LISTEN to good lyrics that are surrounded with fantastic back-up. A strong four.” (out of five)
Lars Thell, Director, Smalånds Country Club, Sweden (Nov 2015)

Voted “Fan Favorite” by L.A. Music Critic Award Readers in 2015, Annette plays in and around Los Angeles with her full band, duo, and solo, at several venues of note: El Cid, House of Blues, Cinema Bar, Genghis Cohen, at NAMM, Kulak’s Woodshed, The Mint, and WitZend, among others. Her monthly residency at MUSE on 8th is host to some of LA’s most in-demand acoustic acts. In the past year she has performed along the coast of California, in Colorado, Arizona (at the inaugural Mesa Music Festival), and toured North Carolina and Tennessee, including a stop at the famed Bluebird Cafe. As a live performer, Annette has toured the country for years, from local club dates to regional festivals to state fairs. With rock band Eden Automatic, she opened for The Pretenders, The B-52s, Missing Persons, and Duran Duran.

Creator of NetteRadio, Annette has been dedicated to supporting independent women in music for many years. She has produced more than 52 artist showcases raising funds for a variety of charities. For this, she has been recognized by the American Red Cross.

Annette is endorsed by Daisy Rock Guitars and Shubb Capos, and is a member of ASCAP, NSAI, and a voting member of both the Grammy’s (NARAS) and the Americana Music Association. Her music has been licensed for several films. It was no surprise to her peers when she received the highly lauded 2011 Songsalive! Songwriter of the Year award for her achievements, or honored with a 2015 HMMA (Hollywood Music Media Award) Nomination. A recipient of the 2009/2010 ASCAPlus Award, Annette has been featured in Fierce Magazine, Examiner.com, and AXS.com, and has been published in ROCKRGRL.

She is a vegan, an advocate for animal rights, rescues stray kitties, and is passionate about everything she pursues.

She is filled with gratitude.
