Biography
“I wanted a unique theme song for my show,” says Andy Ross. That need to create a theme song for the 5th season of Maximum Archery, a top-rated program on The Sportsman’s Channel, led Andy to contact Chopper Anderson. Andy had met Chopper years ago when Andy had built a bass amp for Chopper to use while playing in Reba McEntire’s band. Chopper and Andy wrote “Three Legged Dog” and the need to record it led Andy to award-winning producer Doug Grau. Andy and Doug met when Doug was producing The Davisson Brothers Band and Davisson Brothers Band lead singer Donnie Davisson recognized Andy at a Nashville establishment. “Donnie was a big fan of the show and I’m very thankful Donnie introduced himself because I’ve learned a lot about the music business from the Davisson Brothers,” says Andy. When Doug and Andy set out to record “Three Legged Dog” Doug suggested that Andy sing the song, which was a challenge Andy embraced with the drive and determination that Andy had already used to create several multi-million dollar businesses. The song proved to be popular with fans of the show. “I was surprised when I would meet fans and they would have ‘Three Legged Dog’ downloaded on their phone and they would ask me about my music,” remembers Andy.

Encouraged by this response Andy reached out to friends and fans of the show such as chart topping artist Lee Brice, top songwriter Jon Stone, and Andy’s music business mentor Chris Davisson. “I was blown away by the fact that these guys that had such amazing musical accomplishments would help me,” says Andy. These songs built the foundation for Andy’s debut CD Andy Ross. One of the musicians that played on the first recordings for Andy was Little Texas guitarist and front man Porter Howell, which led Andy and Porter to collaborate on a couple of songs for that first CD. “That first CD was a great accomplishment for me,” says Andy, ”but looking back on it I didn’t think that I had made my record, and I went to Porter to help me write more personal material for my second record that led to “Hunt Me Down,” “Blood Trail on a Whitetail,” and “Cold Dead Hand.”

With the release of his second CD, Cold Dead Hand, Andy’s musical journey is shifting into another gear. “Cold Dead Hand,” the first single off the CD, captures the emotion of the gun rights debate and serves as a rallying cry for millions of Americans. As Andy embarks on the filming schedule for the 8th season of Maximum Archery, his schedule now includes visiting radio stations and performing with his band while continuing to serve as president and creative force behind several business ventures such as Velvet Antler Wine, the first wine chosen specifically to pair with wild game; KrossRoad Guitars, a camo acoustic guitar that plays like a guitar that would cost twice as much as it does; and Maximum Archery The Game, a first person interactive video game that allows the player to be “Andy” and take them through all the facets of the hunt. Also on the horizon is a revolutionary new bow designed by Andy’s new company Ambush Archery. Andy will feature this new bow throughout the 8th season of Maximum Archery. Andy used the Ross Archery bow for the previous seasons on Maximum Archery. “The Ross bow took me around the world several times for which I’m very grateful,” says Andy, “and I want to give back to the sport I love with this new bow that opens to door hunting year-round. We’re hunting all kinds of animals you wouldn’t hunt with a compound bow. I’m really excited about this new season of Maximum Archery as I incorporate this new music, this new bow, and the new products of which I’m very proud.

Andy’s entrepreneurial spirit and love of music are passed down from his dad, Bud Ross, the creator of the legendary Kustom tuck and roll amps and Ross Pedals. “Dad was incredibly innovative when he created Kustom tuck and roll amps; and I try to bring that same spirit of innovation to everything I do,” states Andy. “My music, my new bow, the wine, the guitar, and the video game are the result of my efforts to innovate. I hope you like them all.”
