South Carolina-based Bluegrass band Wilson Banjo Co. is excited to announce the release of their brand new single, “Black Wedding Dress.” The track offers a preview of their forthcoming 2025 album, showcasing their signature sound with a fresh twist. The recording is available now via Pinecastle Records, and fans can download and/or stream it on all digital and streaming platforms HERE.

“We have always loved recording songs with an interesting storyline. It allows us to challenge ourselves musically to create the same emotion and dynamic to fit the lyric,” explains Steve Wilson. “‘Black Wedding Dress’ is perfect for exactly that. As a bonus, I don't believe this story has ever been told, which is rare in our genre! The writer, Avrim Topel, did a great job, and we appreciate Sherrill Blackman for bringing us another amazing single. I hope everyone enjoys it!”

The song delivers an edgy, haunting vibe that has become a hallmark of Wilson Banjo Co.'s sound. Lyrically, it transports listeners into a Grandma’s attic, where a mysterious black wedding dress is discovered. The dress holds a tragic story: the woman lost three husbands before the age of 30, and the story evolves from there. The track was produced and arranged by WBC founder Steve Wilson, who also plays banjo and provides harmony. Alongside Brandi Colt’s powerful lead vocals, the single also features band members Andrew Crawford on guitar, Jaime Carter on bass and harmony, Adam Bachman on dobro and special guest Darren Nicholson on mandolin.

Looking ahead to early 2025, the band plans to release an EP featuring “Black Wedding Dress” and four additional new tracks. It’s the follow-up to Wilson Banjo Co.’s previous project, Memory Lane, which has proven to be a massive hit with DJs and music fans alike, spending seven weeks at No. 1 on the Roots Music Report Contemporary Albums Chart (22 weeks in the Top Five). The band currently has two songs in the Top Ten of the Contemporary Bluegrass Song Chart with “Coalmine” and “Memphis Anymore.”

Avrim Topel, the songwriter behind “Black Wedding Dress,” praised the band’s ability to bring his tale to life: “From the opening licks of Steve Wilson’s banjo mastery performing ‘Black Wedding Dress,’ the Wilson Banjo Company’s ability to weave my tall-tale yarn into whole cloth is undeniable. Brandi Colt’s authentic storytelling captivates listeners to hang on and see what comes next in a performance that exceeds my every expectation.”
