BIOGRAPHY
They say you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes, like where they’ve been and where they're going. The amount of wear on Tyler Resch’s old scuffed up pair of Red Wing boots tell the story of a long journey filled with hard work. Born and raised on the west-central plains of Minnesota, Tyler comes from the rustic leftovers of a rural American lifestyle that is slowly fading, but remains alive and well in the songs he sings.
Hand-me-down guitars from his grandfather helped ignite Tyler's fascination with music at an early age, and his father’s musical tastes introduced him to artists he still channels today. Along with many noted Nashville influences, Tyler also draws inspiration from the country-rock music made famous in California and the red-dirt/outlaw country in Texas. In fact, Tyler cut his teeth for years playing a wide variety of tunes in countless venues all over the upper mid-west. “I didn’t go to college after high school,” he notes. “I worked at a hot rod shop building cars during the week and played shows on the weekends. I felt like I had to follow the music, but hey.. I can probably fix my own bus out on the road!”
Chasing that neon rainbow eventually led Tyler to Nashville, Tennessee in 2016 and it didn’t take long to find some traction. His songwriting ability quickly sparked the interest of the award winning producer (Gary Allan, Kathy Mattea, and others) and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame writer Byron Hill. Together, they started writing songs for the recently released 8-song EP "Highways & Honkytonks", recorded at Benchmark Sound in Nashville.
Although his sound remains rooted in country music, his genre blending style pushes the limits. His songs have been described as “country music with a rock and roll attitude,” and “hard-driving heartland music.” Uninterested in chasing trends, Tyler continues to write and sing his songs straight from the heart. With a professional recording session under his belt and a focus on touring, 2019 is shaping up to be a big year for this up-and-coming guitar slinger.
Review of Featured Track "HONKYTONK OVERTIME" "This toe-tapping standout tune from it boasts frothing guitar accompaniment, a blue-collar lyric and a sincere vocal delivery. So wonderfully catchy that you want to dance around the room while it spins. Get to know this guy’s music."-Robert K. Oermann, Music Row Magazine
