Biography
With a career spanning over 40 years, Rick Taylor is considered one of the finest blues/roots and finger style guitarist around.
Not content to rest on his laurels, and hot on the heals of his critically acclaimed 2008 release “The Wonky Years”, as well as the moving finger style guitar work of his 2005 release “Clown River”, Rick Taylor has returned home; to the blues with "Lucky Room".
This gritty solo collection of 11 songs is recorded in the spirit of the 20’s and 50’s blues masters. It covers the road from Mississippi to Chicago in a stirring tribute to the roots of the music that has driven pop music for decades.
With a bourbon and gravel voice that sounds like it could be coming through the torn speaker of a 1927 Buick, and the smoldering guitar work that beckons the ghosts of blues legends long gone, Lucky Room was recorded on vintage acoustic and electric guitars and amplifiers. Close your eyes and you will find yourself sitting at a table in a juke joint, somewhere along Highway 61.
