Children around the world need us today
Whether here down the road, in a land far away
A moment of time, a bit of spare change
Oh what a difference, why leave it the same

Recitation....

Two little children a boy and girl sat by an old church door
The little girl's feet were brown as the curls that fell on the dress that she wore
The little boy's coat was faded and hatless his head
A tear showed in each little eye

Whooo, My name is Ollie
I'm the old church owl, I saw them as they wandered by
I watched as someone tried to shoo them away
'Run home to your mama' they yelled
Not a word did they say until they reached the church door
And down from the church bell I sailed

I called out to them Whoooo, Whoooo
I did say as they both bowed their heads
'Hello, my name is Sally and this here is little Jim,'
I listened and this here is what she said,
'Mama's in heaven, they took her away and left me and little Jimmy alone
We come here to sleep at the close of the day
for we have no mama or home
We can't earn our bread, we're too little,' she said.
'Jim is five and I'm only seven
We have no one to love us since Papa's gone and our darlin' mama's in heaven
Perhaps there's no room in heaven,' she said
'for two little darlings to keep.'
She then placed her hand on little Jim's head
She kissed him and they both fell asleep
I tried and I tried to get someone to come and hear the story I told
I whooed and I whooed to keep them awake
for the night was bitter and cold
The snow blowed so deep against the old church as the town clock loudly struck five
I prayed and I prayed someone would come, and find little Sally and Jimmy alive
The Sexton came early to ring the church bell and he found them beneath the snow white
For the angels made room for two darlings to dwell in heaven with mama last night
