Biography
JD Taylor grew up in Brownsville TN. never dreaming that at age 30 a gift of a harmonica would change his life forever. In just 3 short years of writing songs practicing harmonica, hanging out on Beale Street and catching all the greats traveling through Memphis, he knew it was time to make his move. His journey would start in 1995 with his group Little Boys Blue and their first studio album that showcased JD's original material. Around 1996 he met Carl Perkins at the local music store and was invited to play harmonica on some gigs to support his new book Go Cat Go. In 1997 JD would find himself being a 3rd place finalist at the International Blues Competition (IBC). This set off a few years of traveling ,touring and performing Juke Joints and Blues Festivals across the country. Some of those artist that JD performed with included the greats such as RL Burnside, Big Jack Johnson and Honey Boy Edwards. Five studio albums and 27 years later, JD is about to release his new 2020 solo debut album titled The Coldwater Sessions on the Vizztone Label. This album features all original tracks recorded at the infamous Zebra Ranch Studios near Coldwater MS. engineered and co-produced by Kevin Houston. The line up on the album consists of some of todays top touring blues musicians and even a grammy nominee or two. Be on the look out August 7, 2020 for JD’s new release “The Coldwater Sessions” releasing on the Vizztone Label Group.
