Biography
M.C. Records is thrilled to announce the release of Guy Davis' The Legend of Sugarbelly (MC-0094) on August 23, 2024.

It marks the fifth release that Guy and M.C. Records have collaborated on. The celebrated Blues singer-songwriter will be touring in the U.S. the U.K. and the Netherlands throughout 2023 to support the new record.


"The Legend of Sugarbell" is Guy Davis' long-awaited follow-up album to 2021's Grammy-nominated recording "Be Ready When I Call You."

The 13-track release continues and expands upon his skills as a storyteller with 10 original compositions. You will also discover three moving cover tracks Guy has arranged from Sam Chatmon, Blind Lemmon Jefferson, and Leadbelly. On The Legend of Sugarbelly Guy Davis demonstrates his mastery of multiple instruments including 6 & 12-string guitars, mandolin, harmonica, and 5 & 6-string banjos. He is also supported on the record by Professor Louie on organ, bass player Mark Murphy and Chris James on mandolin, and 6-String Banjo.
