Andie Kay Joyner and Heather Stalling had to experience life before they felt ready to write and sing about it. After meeting in 1992, both were already accomplished musicians/vocalists, having grown up in musical families that exposed them to bluegrass festivals and folk scenes at an early age. For the next decade, the girls further groomed themselves for their own band by playing in several other bands, backing dozens of Texas artists like Mark David Manders, Bob Schneider, Ed Burleson, Johnny Lee, and Max Stalling.

The two shared a house and began cowriting and as word spread about their talent they began a weekly gig every Tuesday at the legendary Dallas honky-tonk, Adair’s Saloon for a little over a year. Heather then signed on for a regular stint with Texas singer-songwriter Mark David Manders, while Andie Kay frequently came along to sing backup vocals. They took up songwriting in earnest and became self-described “world-class hotel jammers.”

In 2006 the girls formed the band Blacktop Gypsy and jumped into the lime light of the Texas Music scene when they won the BW Stevenson Songwriter’s Competition and placed as finalists in the Shiner Rising Star Competition. Striving for perfection they chose to continue honing their skills and putting together the band that could best reflect the music they wanted to share with the world.

In 2011the current band roster was put into place and they entered the studio to record their sophomore release Whirlwind. Produced by Grammy winner Lloyd Maines (Dixie Chicks) and packed with ten solid tracks, this album caught the attention of Winding Road Music, landing the group their first recording contract. This far the release has garnered two chart topping singles, Too Far From Texas and Traci, on both the Texas Music and Texas regional Radio charts.

However, don't let their Texas roots and success give the impression that their sound is only for the Lone Star State - the group also receives national exposure via internet, college and public radio as well as weekly sales in these areas.

Most recently Blacktop Gypsy was awarded a spot in the coveted Chevy Music Showcase series in which they are featured in a series of spotlight commercials and appear for brand VIP events.

"Radio Creds" are votes awarded to artists by radio programmers who have downloaded their music and have been impressed with the artist's professionalism and the audience's response to the new music. Creds help artists advance through the AirPlay Direct community.

Only radio accounts may add a Radio Cred. One week after the track has been downloaded the radio account member will receive an email requesting a Cred for each artist they've downloaded.
