Biography

Los Angeles based, original all female rock band ABSINTHE, was formed in 2007 by guitarist Briana Alexis. The girls have been making a quite a name for themselves on the Southern California music scene. The Absinthe signature rock sound encompasses the heavy guitars of Briana Alexis with the powerful vocals of Cherokee Fortune to create guitar heavy catchy songs.

The band has rapidly built up a solid fan base and regularly shares stages with national acts. They have played venues such as The Long Beach Grand Prix, The Del Mar Fair, The House of Blues, Key Club, Cat Club, Whisky Go Go, Roxy, Viper Room, Knitting Factory, Brixton, Club Derby and The Mint, Calendar Girls Festival, L.A. Marathon, LA Femme Film Festival, and Mamapalooza. The girls also performed at the 2009 Winter NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Show at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The band is endorsed with Carvin Products, Seymour Duncan Pickups, Mogami Cables, N-Tune Onboard Tuners, D'Addario/PlanetWaves Products, Evans Drumheads, Floyd Rose, AMT Electronics, Dean Markley Strings, Trailer Trash Pedalboards and FloydUpgrades Products. Briana is also a member of the Gibson Guitars Family of Artists. It’s no mystery that the industry and music press have taken notice of the band. They won several awards at the 2008 Rock City News Magazine Music Awards including Best Female Rock Band, Best Female Fronted Band and Best Female Guitarist. The band were also featured in Guitar Goddess Magazine and played the magazine’s premier party at the Gibson Guitars artist showroom. Absinthe has been written up in Music Connection Magazine, Medal Maidens Magazine, Metaladies Magazine, All Access Magazine, Femme Metal Magazine and were the Featured Artist in Airplay Direct Magazine for their ratings in September 2010.

In May of 2010, the band released their EP La Fée Verte. The band closed out the year with a bang when they were the first runner up to be the featured band in an upcoming Adidas national TV ad campaign.

Absinthe kicked off 2011 by performing live in the studio on The Playboy Morning Show on Sirius Satellite Radio (XM 99) in January. They also shot a product video for Carvin, soon to appear on the Carvin Channel. Absinthe recently debuted their newest video entitled “Filthy” from their EP La F’ee Verte.
