Biography
Trout Fishing in America is the long-standing musical partnership of Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet. The name, taken from an early Richard Brautigan novel, seems almost as incongruent and intriguing as a picture of this musical duo - Idlet (guitar) stands 6’ 9” and Grimwood (bass), 5’ 5½”. What is more intriguing is the musical career these two have carved out in three decades of writing, recording and performing together. The advent of CD technology made it possible for TFIA to join the first wave of artist-owned labels, and in 1990 Trout Records was born. Total sales to date is more than 400,000 units with releases alternating between the folk/acoustic pop/rock and children's genres. Performing Songwriter magazine named TFIA one of their "100 Most Influential Independent Artists of the past 15 years." With the release of their 15th CD, “Big Round World,” Trout Fishing earned their fourth Grammy nomination. This fall brings the newest release, a book/cd set published by The Secret Mountain called "Chicken Joe Forgets Something Important." TFIA sees the future as the brightest part of their successful career.
