You’d expect to hear an alt-country, pop-folk, happy Americana-ish duo to come out of the Nashville scene, and maybe even from the blue hills of Kentucky. But Rory and Alexa who comprise The ROAMies, a husband-wife duo-led band, continue to be far from predictable. Rory Partin grew up with soul-infused pop and jazz in Louisiana, and Alexa James grew up in New Mexico and Texas and loved whatever uplifting happy tunes were blaring from the radio. They met when Alexa was 15 years old. Each pursuing their own version of rock-stardom, they both ended up at Belmont University in Nashville, and their soap-opera dating relationship began, ended, began again, etc. until they married. During their saga, Rory was playing trumpet and singing in an 18-piece Big band and Alexa first garnered a publishing deal and then a solo record deal, both having some mild success. But Nashville didn’t seem to be the right place for either of them stylistically, and Los Angeles called their name. Within their first year there, Alexa won Hot AC Artist of The Year with the L.A. Music Awards. They went on to win awards with their music in the tv/film industry including Best Theme-Song and Best Soundtrack.
It wasn’t until this transition to L.A., that The ROAMies were formed.

Out of Los Angeles, Rory and Alexa started performing some acoustic shows and tours, sharing an acoustic guitarist and singing backup for each other when possible. Rory would sing his originals and his jazz standards, and Alexa would sing her original poppy melodies. At the end of these shows, they were continually asked for the album of them together. Alexa and Rory continued to be puzzled by this, because they felt so different stylistically and vocally. They like working and singing and traveling together, but they couldn’t visualize where to go musically with such vast differences between them. But the acoustic configuration they had employed was hitting a chord with people and Rory and Alexa found a way to fuse who they are as singer-songwriters into The ROAMies.

Excited to release their first EP, WE GOT LOVE, they now see Nashville as a nice fit for their music, and will be spending a good bit of time there this Spring to begin writing for their first official full album.

WE GOT LOVE is scheduled to release later this coming Spring, and was recorded in Helsinki Finland, Los Angeles, and Nashville, TN. This 6-song EP contains 4 originals co-written by Alexa and Rory and some Nashville songwriter-producers as well as with their Finnish producer, Miika Colliander. The EP opens with their current single, “Oh, My My,” and “We Got Love” is scheduled to release as a single along with the EP release. “We Can Work It Out” will follow. Since Rory and Alexa are addicted to travel, they’ll continue to tour the US and Europe in 2017, and are looking forward to their first trip to Australia at the top of 2018. They would love to ROAM your way and are available for interviews and live in-studio performances, where you can expect to be uplifted and find yourself smiling. Other than that, The ROAMies will be anything but predictable.
