Introducing Rick Millward – “Limited Edition”

At 63, Rick Millward is ramping up a career when most artists are retiring, or heading out for nostalgia tours.
This ambition was sparked by an experiment in social media, using the Reverbnation.com site to showcase his recordings, he joined the site a little over a year ago, entering the Nashville Americana “chart” at #85. Last February he reached #1 on that chart and stayed there until just recently. Today he is still in the top 10, and closing in on 10,000 fans. During that time the response to his music has exceeded all expectations. Hundreds of positive comments and downloads have encouraged him to move forward and release six tracks to Americana radio thru AirplayDirect.com. He's performing around Nashville and will be coming to the West Coast in July.

Rick's EP "Limited Edition" has six tracks gleaned from his last three records. He's marketing the CD in an unusual way: on eBay. While all the tracks can be downloaded from Reverbnation and soon, iTunes, only 200 physical copies will be made, each one in a hand embossed metal case with a signed certificate of authenticity, hence, "Limited Edition".

Rick has a personal style that reflects a lifetime of influences; rock, country, and Americana, with songs that are unaffected and straightforward. This music is extremely personal, but not painfully so. Rick finds a common thread that connects the ideas to his listeners with maturity and an urgency that stirs the soul.

BIO:
Raised on a small farm in Idaho, Rick Millward lived and worked on the West Coast until he moved to Nashville in 2000. He played in groups all through school, studied art in college and afterwards more or less lived in parallel, alternating between jobs with ad agencies and working in bands. In San Francisco, he joined The Overland Freight Band. This was the first group that had ambitions beyond doing covers in beer joints and was the first opportunity for him to be in a group that regularly performed original material. Following that he left to “go solo” and put his own band together and subsequently played around the Bay Area, as well as working as a recording engineer. Rick had many great experiences including helping to build the legendary Tarpon studios, where he did his first pro recordings in 1981.
Since moving to Nashville Rick has continued to freelance in media production, which afforded him an opportunity to write two original soundtracks for the local PBS station, both of which earned EMMY nominations.
