Biography
You may not be familiar with their names or faces. But the talent they brought to the studio for this project is a testament unto itself. With the production help of old friend and former member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Les Thompson, Crowe and Lunch meat helped Les build his recording studio and chicken yard in trade for studio time. Eight of the songs were recorded in Nashville at Music Emporium featuring Brian Wooten and Mark Gilespie on guitars, Jon Coleman on piano and organ, Andrea Zonn on fiddle, Smith Curry on pedal and lap steel.
Tracks were also added by Artimus Pyle at his home in North Carolina. Larry and Jenny Keel added tracks while taking a pit stop from a tour thru North Carolina. Harmonica was played by Luis Rocha in Salvador Brazil, all recorded by Crowe using a Roland V Studio. The fiddle track on Crooked Road was recorded by Chance McCoy while he was living on the Crooked Road in Floyd Virginia.
This project was produced to feature the writing of Lunch Meat Larry and Emerson Crowe. No need to hire lead and harmony vocals when you have Crowe and Flower in the house.
All of these songs were written mostly outdoors, in the country, with pen and a random scrap of paper. Not in a cubicle in the city on a lap top.
