"Delmark Records and AirPlay Direct celebrate the life and legacy of Delmark’s founder, jazz & blues stalwart Bob Koester. When Bob passed away, on the morning of May 12th 2021, the music community reacted unanimously. He was 88. Between 1953 and 2018, when Bob passed the torch to me, as the new Delmark President, he built an amazing catalogue. Bob recorded a fundamental era of Chicago’s blues and jazz music. He was also a mentor for many others and a driving force behind Chicago’s music scene.
This tribute features some of Bob’s favorite albums from Delmark’s amazing and deep historical catalogue, reflecting Bob Koester’s enlightened and eclectic taste, from New Orleans and Chicago
traditional jazz to acoustic and electric blues and from swing and bop to the avantgarde sounds of Sun Ra.
