Pickin’ On Lynyrd Skynyrd takes up where the original bandmembers left off, with the hottest bluegrass and country musicians playing sizzling versions of their best-loved hits in an all-instrumental homage to the Southern-fried licks of this quintessential good-time party band.

They modeled themselves after the Beatles, the Stones, and the Small Faces—how could they have guessed that their music would distinguish the sound of American/Southern rock? But it did: Lynyrd Skynyrd took the airwaves by storm with such classic hits as “Free Bird,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and “Saturday Night Special,” blazing renditions of which are featured on this album.
