Hell Yeah: Pickin' on Gretchen Wilson offers an instrumental bluegrass re-telling of the country sensation's smash hit 2004 debut. It features a full lineup of bluegrass musicians -- anchored by acoustic guitar throughout; The album also features Larry Richardson's banjo, the fiddle and mandolin of Tim Crouch, and dobroist Randy Kohrs. Jeff Taylor's accordion leads on the gentle "When I think About Cheatin'" are a nice touch, as are the harmonica (courtesy of Pat Bergerson) and fiddle that stand in for the vocals on the hit "Redneck Woman." Other highlights of the set include the ballad "Holdin' You" and "When It Rains," which has a great traditional country feel.
