Biography
Otis Clay was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2013. He recorded in Memphis for Hi/Royal including the hits Trying To Spend My Life Without You and Precious Precious. Johnny Rawls was O.V. Wright's music director from 1975-1980 and after O.V.s death in 1980 kept the band together until starting his solo career a decade later. He has been nominated for Blues Music Awards 14 times, won BMA Soul Album of the Year and Living Blues Critics' Choice Southern Soul Album of the Year 4 times. Soul Brothers was nominated for BMA Soul Album of the Year, Living Blues Blues Album of the Year and won The Blues Blast Awards Soul Album of the Year. It was #6 blues album on the Downbeat Magazine 2015 Critics' Choice list, the only soul album on the top 20 list.
