Album Description:
The Osborne Brothers, Sonny Osborne and Bobby Osborne, were an influential and popular bluegrass act during the 1960s and 1970s. They are probably best known for their No. 33 1967 country hit song, "Rocky Top", written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant and named after a fictional Tennessee location.
"When you listen to this album, try to remember that these are the songs where our beloved Bluegrass music was born. I realize that there have been bigger songs, like 'Fox on the Run' or our own 'Rocky Top', but that was all later... long after the need was created by the men I have mentioned -- The Stanley Brothers, Bill Monroe & the Bluegrass Boys, and of course Lester Flatt & earl Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys. The Front-runners, the pioneers of our business.
This collection includes many of their songs for you to hear, either for the first time, or like many of us, to bring back a few memories from another era." - Sonny Osborne
