Biography

Not much out of the ordinary happened in the small Midwestern farming town where Netha was born and raised. Her musically gifted family entertained themselves and the community but no one ever thought too much about it – that is until Netha came along. She amazed family members when, at a very young age, she was not only able to sing on pitch, but could sing harmony parts as well.

“As far back as I can remember, people wanted me to sing for them,” Netha remarks. “Because I started so young I just thought that was normal.”

Netha did most of the things that singers do in a rural environment. She participated in the school plays (always getting the singing roles) and sang at family gatherings and church. By the time she turned ten she was writing her own songs and by age sixteen her popularity landed her a job with a local band. “I sang everywhere from night clubs to funerals,” she quips. “I paid my dues, but I also had a lot of fun. I don’t think I ever missed an opportunity to be on stage.”

Netha moved to Nashville in 1986 and was immediately accepted into the Nashville music community with open arms. She became a much-sought-after singer and background vocalist in both live appearances and in the recording studios. She appeared on the Grand Ole Opry; she won The Nashville Network’s talent show, “You Can Be A Star”; she sang on countless master recordings and national radio jingles including tracks on an album titled “Songs For The Masses” that sold more than 500,000 copies; she appeared on many live showcases, national and worldwide television shows, and opened live shows for Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, John Conlee & Vern Gosdin and sang background vocals for some of the biggest names in the music business including Phil Stacey, Point of Grace, T. Graham Brown, Colin Ray, Lee Greenwood, & Christy Lane.

While she continued performing and recording with other artists, she began singing and recording her own songs. Songs that not only had meaning for her but seemed to relate to others as well. Songs about love, motherhood, difficult times, and the humor of life. She also writes songs about her love of Christ and His healing power in our lives.

Netha’s current Christian single, “The Body of Christ" is the first song off of her new Christian Album "A Mother's Prayer". This is her first Solo album with all the songs written by her and/or her husband.
