Drop Of Water
DROP OF WATER

Words & Music by Shirley Jackson, ©Socan

Where would the strength be in the ocean;
Where would that power be
In a single drop of water
Separated like you and me?

As I stand on a mountain top
I look way down below.
One side shows how far I’ve climbed,
The other how far to go.

I can reach up and touch the sky;
Maybe drag my past behind,
Or change the way I look at things
Or follow with the blind.

Where would that strength be in the ocean
Where would that power be
In single drop of water
Separated like you and me?

I can reach up and touch the sky;
Maybe shed some kind of light;
Maybe carry each other’s load;
Maybe see wrong from right.

Do you teach by example?
How did you learn?
Do you teach your children just
How you got burned?

Baritone sax, guitar, tenor sax solos

I wonder; would a family
Cut down all these trees
And not leave any roots to grow
Or nourish any seeds?
Can they reach up and touch the sky?
Do they drag their past behind;
Or change the way they look at things?
A message for mankind.
