You're Not Easy to Forget
You’re Not Easy to Forget (Henry Davis-Wilbur Jones) John: “I used to do that one with Keith Whitley’s brother Dwight in the Sideroads group when I was a teenager.” A perfect slow country shuffle, the song was first cut by Kitty Wells in 1953. The Kentucky Mountain Boys brought it to bluegrass in the late ‘60s. John echoes Red Allen’s powerful solo from that obscure 45-rpm single, even though John wasn’t familiar with the version and wasn’t even born at the time. Red and John must share an eastern Kentucky soul.
