Heavenly Bliss
Heavenly Bliss was born from a moment I will never forget, from a moment hidden in the innocence of faith and from the breaths fashioned in this life and those breathed in the afterlife. In the embers which burnt low in my mind came a whisper and the souls spirits unified and flew in the message from melodies wings to lyrical wisdom, from father to baby daughter an experience to see her (Tigerlily) through a lifetime and an honour made priceless by the greatest gift of hope this experience could give a wandering minstrel.

As I was jolted back into the moment I found myself sitting on a magnificent master grand Steinway Piano, which reigned supreme at the top of a white staircase giving entrance to Jimmy Barnes’ Whitehouse Studios in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. No sooner than my awareness returned to my fabric was the man himself Jimmy Barnes with wife and children entering the house. Barnes looked up at me then walked up the staircase. He had a guitar in his hands and motioned for me to play. He acted as if he was also receiving a song to his mind. Jimmy’s eyes revealed that he was aware that I was journeying in some distant land and made it plain that I was to continue playing the piano. I smiled and he disappeared into the huge kitchen attached to the massage breakfast/dining room.

A voice came immediately to my ears and mind. The words came, “we will write this song for my little girl” and twenty minutes later melody and lyrics were complete scrawled down in red pen as I remember. A call came from the kitchen “that is a beautiful melody”.

I have always known from the first moment I met Michael Hutchence that our souls were and still are interwoven in the tapestry of creative mastery.

I remember Michael looking over the top of his sunglasses when we first met with an inquisitive smile from his lips. He said “I know you”, and I replied “of course you do”. Within 24 hours Michael Hutchence for reasons known only to him called me “the sweetest individual, male or female he had yet encountered in his life”. I make no apologies for his description of me. My single purpose is to stand as protector for purity. The rest is history. Michael Hutchence was the kindest childlike man I ever met.

Whilst still sitting on the Steinway my Producer Brendon Anthony remarked “not another one!” and said the song would have to wait until he and I returned to Queensland to record it. A few weeks into 2000, Brendon Anthony came to stay with me at a Corporate Residence on the River at Surfers Paradise. At the time we realised that there was no singing booth available so I recorded the melody on my piano, and thereafter we very appropriately from my bed chamber, which my mentor Michael Kelland Hutchence had slept in whilst visiting on a holiday in 1996.

A cubby house was built which only reached my chest in height and microphone was cradled into the top of my exclusive, albeit temporary recording booth. I recorded vocals in two takes and sang the song on my knees. (How else? He was laughing from above). The song was mixed and mastered at Studio 301 Sydney in July of this year (2009).

I do remember receiving a message whilst singing on my knees in 2000 that the song would only ever be released when Tigerlily Hutchence reached what he called her “womanhood”, and I had no intention whatever of entering argument with a master in the afterlife, especially when the song was written for his one and only princess.

I has been my indescribable pleasure to be the earthbound messenger for Michael Hutchence the greatest disciple of song. No word, feelings and no human desire could ever come close for my unconditional love for Michael the poet, Michael the lyricist, Michael the Wizard King.
