Lead Vocalist for RCR Performs at Motown Celebration
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Uni Pereira, lead singer of Nashville-based rock band, Red Carpet Rats (RCR), was asked to perform in front of legendary music and entertainment leaders in a joint celebration of the Heroes and Legends (HAL) Awards’ 20th Anniversary and Motown’s 50th Anniversary on September 27 at the world famous Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

The event annually honors entertainment pioneers and legends. The 2009 honorees included veteran record label executive, Clarence Avant; guitar virtuoso, Dennis Coffey; George Clinton of the legendary Parliament-Funkadelic; Eddie Levert of the O’Jays and actor Wesley Snipes.

Pereira said he was honored to share the stage with the industry icons that participated in the event, including Quincy Jones and Berry Gordy.

“After the show, Quincy asked me to sit down and share a moment with him,” He exclaimed. “I’m in a rock band from Nashville, Tennessee and I’m having a one-on-one with Quincy Jones! That doesn’t happen everyday.”

JoMarie Payton, best known for her role as Harriette Winslow on Family Matters, hosted the event which raises funds for the HAL Scholarship Foundation designed to help talented young people interested in performing arts careers. This hits home for Pereira, who feels strongly about helping children interested in the arts. He and his RCR bandmates lead songwriting sessions at local schools in Nashville.

“As a songwriter,” he continues, “having the opportunity to meet legendary songwriters like Brian Holland, Janie Bradford and Mr. Gordy was an unforgettable experience.”

Nashville-based Red Carpet Rats are currently enjoying chart success with their debut single on Chauffeur Records, “Photographic Memory” and the album cut “Going To Hell” will be featured in the indie horror film, “Dead Start.” For more information on this talented band, please visit www.redcarpetrats.com.

The Heroes And Legends (HAL) Scholarship Foundation was created by celebrated songwriter and Motown Alumna, Janie Bradford, to aid "at risk" youth by providing scholarship funds for students pursuing a performing arts curriculum and to spotlight exceptional members of the music, theatre and film industries each year at the Annual HAL Awards Scholarship Dinner. Red Carpet Rats selected to be Musicians On Call
Nashville rock band Red Carpet Rats has been selected to take part in Musicians On Call, a nonprofit organization formed in 1999, brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities. Musicians On Call uses music to promote and complement the healing process for patients, families and caregivers. "We are very excited to be a part of this great organization and look forward to playing for everyone," says RCR's singer Uni Pereira.

About:

Musicians On Call was originally founded by Michael Solomon and Vivek Tiwary in the course of their volunteer work with The Kristen Ann Carr Fund at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

After a concert sponsored by the Kristen Ann Carr Fund, a hospital staff member raised the issue that some of the patients had been unable to attend the performance either because they were in treatment or too sick to leave their rooms. In response, Michael, Vivek and the musician went from room to room to play for those patients who had been unable to attend the concert. The one-on-one interaction of patient and musician created a crucial intimacy; the expressions on the faces of friends and family members at the patients' bedsides revealed a deep sense of connection and release. Musicians On Call was born!

Red Carpet Rats - Two Singles, Two Formats, One Great Band
Nashville-based rock band, Red Carpet Rats (RCR), prove their sound has no boundaries by releasing two new singles to two different radio formats.

Their memorable debut release titled “Photographic Memory” is heating up the airwaves of Adult Contemporary (AC) and Adult Album Alternative (AAA) stations. Hooking listeners with its up-tempo sound and witty lyrics, the song was a sure success.

While AC and AAA stations latched on to “Photographic Memory,” rock programmers seemed to prefer the single’s “b-side.” So the follow up track called “Going To Hell” was released to rock radio soon after “Photographic Memory” debuted. Having a harder, darker connotation, the song was perfect for rock formats. Independent horror film director George Demick immediately took a liking to the song, and re-cut a scene in his upcoming release “Dead Start” so that “Going To Hell” could be featured in his film.

Program Directors nationwide are realizing RCR is more than your average pop rock band. Jonathon Lehmann from WPNR says, "Red Carpet Rats are melody pounding rock stars who could be compared to U2… their music has an ageless quality that will keep their music spinning constantly because it never gets old."

RCR has executives everywhere taking a second look. Richie Frieman from PensEyeView Magazine states, "This band is more than the latest rock-pop group to hit the circuit. They are here with obvious ambition, a principle held up by sharp lyrics, memorable riffs and unparalleled style… a prime example of what upcoming bands should strive to create."

Their new album “Year of the Rat” on Chauffeur Records will be released in the fall. “Photographic Memory” is currently being featured on All Access’ ‘Cool New Music’ Chart and has been added by internet upstart, trueAnthem (which yielded a sponsorship with Old Navy) and is available at Hot Topic locations and on TouchTunes digital jukeboxes nationwide. The EP can also be found on iTunes, Rhapsody and Amazon. They are one of Airplay Direct’s spotlight artists and will be highlighted in New Music Weekly’s independent artist issue.
