Biography
Don’t think that Kermit Lynch is a wine man who turned his attention to music. He spent the sixties heading a rock ‘n’ roll band in Berkeley until he opened his wine shop is 1972. “I wasn’t making enough money to buy a new harmonica,” he says, “so I decided to get a day job.” That decision led to two books, the purchase of the historic Domaine Les Pallières, a winery in the Rhône Valley, and a medal from the French goverment – Kermit Lynch was recently named Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, a knight armed with a corkscrew instead of a sword, and a knight who sings the blues (amongst other musical genres).
He never lost his passion for music. His first CD, Quicksand Blues, was produced by Boz Scaggs and Ricky Fataar. His recent release is titled Man’s Temptation, and is a tour through American pop and roots music. A third album is mixed and waiting in the wings, tentatively titled Kitty Fur after a new Lynch composition.
When asked if wine influenced his music, he had a ready answer: “Wine tasters do it tastefully.”
