Liners
The First Test any singer must pass for me is Believeability! and WOW listening to this album does Josh have some stories to tell… His Baretone Style of singing really draws you in, and makes you listen to every line, fully captioning your attention from start to finish… Josh may be young but deffinately not a rookie ~ Larry Cordle

The First thing I notcied when listening to this new record was it has the old school Bluegrass feel to it. Songs like “A Lovin’ Man” and “Daddy’s Don’t Cry” are right up my alley. Dark, Sad, Cheating, Loving, Family…. Everything I love about Bluegrass Music. The Highlight of the record for me is “Mamma’s Midnight Altar Calls” ….. Great Song, and Great Perfomance…… Way to go Josh and the Gang….. I LOVE IT!!! ~ Melonie Cannon

Kentucky has been one of the primary sources for great Bluegrass Singers. After all Bill Monroe was born and raised here! Josh Slone is just the latest of the bunch… When he sings you can hear the East Kentucky just pourin’ from his mouth… ~ Don Rigsby

When I was asked to listen to the new recording project from Josh Slone & CoalTown and say a few words about it, I was glad to do so. I had an idea what to expect musically having previously performed on the same bill with the band. However upon listening to the new project I was suprised by what I heard. I heard the drive and intensity that I had heard from their live performances, but I also heard maturity in the material and arrangement on the recording that is sometimes hard to find in a young bands. These guys are a well-balanced tight group who know how to get their point across in a song. They pay hommage to their mountain roots with straight ahead “in your face” but also know when to pull back and let the lyrics work their magic in a soft warm ballad. All I can say is congratulations on a job well done. Great job from a fine band who knows how to bring it. ~ Steve Gulley
