If perseverance, constancy and illusion are put together in the same person, with a dollop of musicality and artistry, an incomparable sweet and intense voice that doesn't know frontiers, and a handful of passion for living on a stage, we would be facing an artistic phenomenon called Graciela.
A velvety voice, precise, well drawn and romantic, of a rare and impressive sonority - O Regional newspaper (Brazil) - arrives to the UK to introduce a new music style and create trends. Now It Is Me is the debut album of this new promise that's gonna be the talk of the town.
Singer, artist, composer and actress, Graciela was born in Galicia, Spain, from a musical family, following her passion from the early age of 2. She studied classical singing and finished a PGDip in Vocal Jazz at the Royal Academy of Music in London. As a winner of the I Festival Pop-Rock Xunta de Galicia (a government-funded competition) she had one of her own songs on the regional radio (Cadena SER) during 1998-1999, being interviewed on radio and TV. Strongly influenced by great artists like Noa, Robi Rosa, Bjork, Madonna or Sting, she creates her own style introducing pop, funk, dance and world rhythms giving intensity and uniqueness to each and every one of her songs' bars.
Confident in her potential and counting only on her love for music, she travels around the world, living in Puerto Rico and ending eventually in London. Her vast knowledge of different cultures and styles, give Graciela a broader vision of the functionality and meaning of music, making her compositions acquire an interesting richness that awakens unique sensations.
Her extraordinary potential has made possible her sharing of stage with artists such as Bjork and Yaire. She was a member of the pop-opera girl band Milan, touring the UK in 2006, and she performs in the London Latin scene as lead singer of maestro Roberto Pla & His Latin Ensemble and others. She won the UK Unsigned competition in 2009 in her category. She has sung for personalities like the presidents of Iceland, Kazakhstan and Tanzania. She collaborates as a backing vocalist for numerous artists, sings classical music and is a member of several function bands in London.They are many the venues and people who have enjoyed her voice and describe her as a unique singer, of a singular personality and incomparable musical beauty who tears emotions and provokes various reactions.
Now it is me contains songs with an interesting content, musical as well as expressive, where emotions, personal experiences and the artist's social and ethnic influences come to flourish and can be seen through her lyrics and sounds. Thus, an album is born inviting to listening as well as dancing.
Graciela also has a band of professional musicians: Steve Richardson - bass guitar (Spice Girls, Shirley Bassey), Roberto Ares - drums (Eduardo Niebla, Yasmin Levy), Jaal and Dominic Grant - guitars (long-term musical accompanists of Graciela) and Tansy Aked - keyboards (West End musicals: Wicked, Phantom of the Opera).
Even though Graciela seems a newly arrived, undoubtedly she is not. She is an artist in constant evolution. "The music I do allows me to express things with freedom", she says. "It doesn't have a beginning or an end because it's an integral part of my path in this life". As she progresses as an artist, it is evident that Graciela invests profoundly her attention and energies in each step she makes. Be it producing her compositions, recording backing vocals for others, composing or arranging, as a band leader of other bands or as a singer in diverse groups and shows. Definitely, Graciela is not to be taken for granted.
