A long and winding road has led Erik Larson to where he is today. As the charismatic and talented frontman for Austin, Texas' rock juggernaut, Johnny Law, Larson caught the wave to stardom in the Spring of 1990 during the South by Southwest Music Conference when Johnny Law caught the eye of Warner Brothers subsidiary Metal Blade Records. Unfortunately,that ride was short-lived. Despite Johnny Law's massive industry buzz, mass audience appeal the support of industry icons like Chris Robinson of Black Crowes and Kevin Kinney of Drivin' and Cryin', and a debut record produced by the hit maker Brendan O'Brien, Johnny Law became yet another casualty of record label reorganization and the band was very unceremoniously dropped from the Metal Blade roster. Though their song "Hold Me Down" was featured in the opening sequence of the movie "Freddy's Dead - The Final Nightmare" of the Nightmare on Elm Street series of films, Johnny Law's self-titled album was left to languish and fade in to obscurity. Jaded and frustrated, Larson all but disappeared from the music scene into a lengthy musical hiatus fraught with depression and disillusionment. However, with the painful passing of Larson's father in 2007, Erik saw the light, realizing that life was to short to waste. With coaxing by legendary musicians including Chris Gates (Junkyard and Big Boys) and now-Peacemaker bassist Billy Chainsaw (Dropkick and Agony Column), he strapped on his faithful Les Paul and stepped back into the rock arena that was all too happy to have him back. While fine tuning his chops in local Austin favorite, Gentlemen's Social Club, Larson felt an undeniable tug from within, drawing him back to his roots as a southern rock songsmith. Heeding the call from a beckoning Americana Rock/Red Dirt music scene, he began to meticulously craft an all-star musical line up of seasoned musicians, some of which have garnered nation- and world-wide success with such bands as Alejandro Escovedo and Jackson Taylor. Since it's inception, Erik Larson and Peacemaker has created an impressive buzz and local following. With the release of a much-anticipated self-titled debut album (produced and engineered by the illustrious Mac McNabb), Erik Larson and Peacemaker is primed to explode onto the regional, and eventually national, Red Dirt/Americana Rock circuit.
