Biography
Born at the dawn of the 80s, into the glitz and glamour of the time, Danniel has a unique feeling for music. Armed with his creativity and unmistakable powerhouse vocals, Danniel has gained a reputation as an “electro-poet" (Etre Magazine, 2011). His new release, "Greensleeves," is a classic, enduring for well over 400 years, and has become inextricably connected with the holiday season. Powerfully honest lyrics transcend time and juxtapose the love abounding in this festive season with the bleakness of a cold northern winter. Danniel's twin releases "The Corruption of Flesh" - EP (2011), the soundtrack to his controversial tour of the same name, and “Poison Apples & Other Delicacies” (2011) are a culmination of sensual beats, thought provoking lyrics, and intense performances highlighting the theatrical style of Danniel’s music. Danniel is a musician who never tires of forging his own path. (iTunes, Amazon, etc.)

Complete Bio:
Being born at the dawn of the 80s, into a creative family, Danniel learned to celebrate his artistic nature. He began training at the age of 5 with the techniques of classic sketching. It was through this medium that he learned to manipulate the power of light and dark. It was also at this age that Danniel began musical training on the piano, on the violin, and in voice. At the age of 11, Danniel expanded to include sculpture and tangible art, working in clay, metal, and fabrics. At the age of 13, he sold his first piece, won his first award at the Annapolis Valley Art Exhibition, and started writing. His first play, titled “The Hiding Place” based on the book by Corrie Ten Boom, would be produced two years later and his performance career began.

At 21, he expanded from theatre and dance to film with his first productions: “Dancing in Silence: The Sarah Manning Story.” The next year would find him performing the lead in the revival of the musical “Hair” and later The Who’s “Tommy.” Having danced with both Wexford Dance and In The Company of Grace, and having choreographed with the latter, Danniel was asked to choreograph the sell out smash hit “Evil Dead: The Musical.”

After years of studying music, he began recording his own original musical compositions. With the help of his MAcBook, a grand piano, and his unmistakable voice, Danniel completed his first collection of strikingly original music titled: “Poison Apples & Other Delicacies,” 2011. His music is instantly recognizable, melodically pleasing, and pleasantly avant garde. With the critical praise of “Poison Apples,” Danniel released a second album, “The Corruption of Flesh,” which has catapulted him to being a respected voice of Canadian art-pop.

After being discovered through selling pages of his university notepads upon which he had doodled during class, at the age of 23, Danniel would be offered the first solo exhibit of his work. Since then he has been on the 150 artists selected for the Canadian National Tulip Festival, 2005, and one of three honored to paint the tombola prize for the NATO Bazaar in Brussels, Belgium, 2009. Having a desire to expand beyond expectations, Danniel’s art focuses on humanity, sexuality, and his religious upbringing.

Throughout all this, Danniel continued writing poetry, lyrics, and theatrical pieces. After four years of writing the monthly column, “Anything but Vanilla” for To Be Magazine, in 2008 he translated his column into a radio program on CHUO 89.1 fm, of which he is currently the host. In January 2010, Danniel published his first book, “Dancing in Silence,” which would later rise to #4 on the Canadian Poetry Charts. Lastly, Danniel is celebrating the release of his most ambitious written work to date, the allegorical and poignant “My Heart Has Teeth,” with a corresponding multi-disciplinary exhibition.

Having expanded the artistic gap between performance art and the canvas, Danniel Oickle continues to express himself and comment on the world around him.
