Old Guitar
Old Guitar (C. Cook)

So much can happen in the blink of an eye
Green turns to red then
Your life passed you by
Spendin’ all your time
With your hand in the jar
Sittin’ in the corner with an old guitar

A young man is pretty but he ain’t got a clue
Time turns old then what do you do
Find yourself sleepin’
In the back of your car
Tryin’ to make a livin’
With that old guitar

Sometimes I wonder is this all there is
Will I ever make it in the music biz
There ain’t no benefits no guarantees
When there’s a hundred other pickers
Playin’ just like me

There lies a man six feet in the ground
Checked out of here with nobody around
He paid some dues but he didn’t get far
Buried in a coffin with that old guitar
